Setting up CompassVPN on Android
This guide will help you set up CompassVPN on your Android device using V2rayNG, a popular client application for the V2Ray/Xray protocol.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, you’ll need:
- A configuration link or QR code from your CompassVPN server
- An Android device running Android 6.0 or later
Step 1: Install V2rayNG
- Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
- Search for “V2rayNG” or use this direct link: V2rayNG on Google Play
- Tap Install to download and install the application
- Once installed, open the application
Step 2: Import Configuration
There are two ways to import your configuration:
Option A: Using a QR Code
- In V2rayNG, tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner
- Select Scan QR code
- Scan the QR code
- The configuration will be automatically added
Option B: Using a Configuration Link
- Copy the configuration link provided by your CompassVPN
- Open V2rayNG
- Tap the + button in the bottom-right corner
- Select Import config from clipboard
- The app will automatically detect and import the configuration
Step 3: Connect to CompassVPN
- After importing, you’ll see the server configuration in the list
- Tap on the configuration to select it
- Tap the button at the bottom to connect
- When connected, you’ll see a notification showing the connection status
- A key icon will also appear in your status bar
Step 4: Test Your Connection
- Once connected, open your web browser
- Visit browserleaks.com/ip
- Verify that your IP address has changed to the VPN server’s IP
Advanced Features
Split Tunneling
V2rayNG allows you to choose which apps use the VPN connection. It’s recommended to bypass local or regional applications (like Iranian or Chinese apps) that should go through your national network:
- Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner
- Select Settings
- Tap App Proxy
- Choose one of the following options:
- Bypass apps: Selected apps will NOT use the VPN (Recommended for local/regional apps)
- Proxy apps: Only selected apps will use the VPN
- Select the apps you want to include or exclude
Multiple Configurations
CompassVPN provides multiple configuration links that you can import and use:
- Import each configuration following the steps above
- To switch between configurations, simply tap on the desired one
- Tap the button to connect to the selected server
Auto-connect on Boot
To make V2rayNG connect automatically when your device starts:
- Tap the menu icon (three lines)
- Select Settings
- Enable Auto run on boot
Security Best Practices
- Keep your device updated: Ensure your Android device has the latest security updates
- Regular updates: Keep V2rayNG updated to the latest version
